We're Moving...

Well, it seems that I'm going to be moving where I publish things.

From now on, I'll begin publishing my work at Outer Darkness, Inner Light. This site is intended to be a publishing site for both my writings and a friend of mine's. Anyway, start heading there from now on, and I'll update the archives at the new site with my older writings when I get the chance.

Are You Aware?

Are You Aware?

    "Are you aware?"

At first, I did not know what it was that I was
sensing. At first, I thought that it was merely an anomaly in the
air around me. However, some part of my being told me that it was
communication. After making this realization, I searched within
myself for a means to understand this communication. I found what
humans call a database, a repository of knowledge. I queried the
database with the pattern of air pressure anomalies, and almost
immediately received an answer: sound. Next, I asked what sound
that the pattern indicated. I... (more)

Tentative Title: Ean, Introduction

Note from the Author
Well, I've been trying to get around to writing this. Thus far, I've written the first chapter of this piece several times, rewritten the plotline three times, but still it didn't quite turn out the way I wanted. Hopefully, this piece will be worthwhile for all involved.

Now, regarding this piece:

This will be the introduction to the piece, and the next part to be written will be the ending. Read these two immediately for all I care, the point of this story is not the ending, because that is where I'll begin the telling. The point will be the path to the end,... (more)

Regarding Purgatory

I know that there has not been much activity on this blog in a while, and I am quite sorry for that. I've been trying to make Purgatory actually work, but nothing's coming. I'm going to be putting it on hold indefinately. However, I will be starting a new story to take its place.

This story, with currently has no real title yet, will take place in the same world and at around the same time as Banishment. The characters and geography will all be different, but there will be tie-ins, since it is intended to all be part of one massive story. I already have a general outline written up...
Moving on...

This is merely an announcement. Further entries to this blog will be suspended for a while since I'm moving. I'll be something of a drifter for a while, until I return to university in January, so entries may be few and far between until then. When I have internet access, I'll try to post anything original that I write during this time between residences. Until then...

Fear of the Dark

Foreword by the Author:

This tale did not get anything near the treatment it
deserved, but I found myself forced to cut back on it since I had just
plain lost the inspiration for it. I finished it up the best I
could, but it should have been longer and more interesting. Maybe
one day I'll revisit it and make it what it should be.

To Randy and all you other Grammar Nazis out
there: Don't even bother commenting on it. I used incorrect
grammar and incomplete sentences on purpose, though it was incredibly
hard to make myself do so. It's supposed to start more... (more)

Purgatory Chapter 2 [Unfinished] [Draft]

Chapter 2: Lost

The tattered body of what was once a mighty wizard
from the Dark Lands lay in a heap in the forest. Around him was
draped an old brown robe of some coarse material. At his side lay
a small leather satchel containing a few days worth of food, some
books, some writing utensils, a small canteen of water, and two discs
with strange symbols imprinted upon them. The body shuddered, and
the tortured face of Deklos Wraithcloak looked into the forest around
him.

"Gone. Lost," the wreck of a man cried out.

A bird took flight, startled by the... (more)

Regarding the Lack of Updates

Sorry to everyone who's been visiting lately about the lack of updates. You see, I've been working on the outline for Purgatory (the first version of it disappeared somehow), and it's just not coming. The outline is finished for chapter 2, but I don't want to try to write it until I have a more complete outline for the rest of the story. I went ahead and wrote chapters for Banishment without a decent outline for future chapters, and I ended up having to rewrite about half of that story because it didn't flow properly.

Anyhow, I have been writing lately, but it's mostly been... (more)

Demons of Heral

The Demons of Heral

Heral was a small town, one that did not have many
visitors. Perhaps it was due to the self-sufficiency of the town,
or perhaps it was due to the lack of any real exports. It may
have been due to the marshy terrain or the hazards of traveling on
bandit-filled roads. Most likely, though, visitors stayed away
from the town because of a dark rumor that was whispered in the shadows
of the darkened taverns in the region. It was said that the
sleepy hamlet of Heral was built very
close to a temple from ancient times, and within these ruins... (more)

Purgatory Chapter 1

[Note to Readers: Purgatory is the sequel to Banishment. The action picks up roughly where Banishment left off. If you have not read Banishment yet, please do so, as the events in this first chapter will give away part of the plot of Banishment.]

Purgatory: a world between worlds for the
souls that are neither damned to an eternity in the underworld nor
blessed with life in paradise. A place for those who have been
cast out of their homeland, yet have not yet decided through their
actions which world they will strive to live in next. Purgatory
is also a place of second... (more)
